I once got to drag a radar on a sledge up a glacier, really hard work but then from the results we could see right down through the ice to the rock below which was really exciting. We also found polar bear footprints on the way back which was scary but cool!

My favourite experiment was when I part of a team who launched a rocket which flew over Svalbard. The rocket jetisoned several small canisters mid-flight at between 150km and 400km in altitude which had different chemicals in them that glowed when exposed to sunlight. It was dark on the ground so we could see the aurora, but the rocket was so high that it was exposed to the sunlight. I was at the radar site taking measurements of the aurora (which the rocket was fired into) and we could see these crazy flashes of light on top of the aurora. The rocket was called C-REX. It was 21 meters high and was launched from Andoya Space Centre in northern Norway.
