• Question: If you stared at the sun for too long what would happen?

      You would severly damage the optic nerve in your eye and go blind so you should never stare at the sun.

      Ask Donald Trump or anyone else who looked directly as the eclipse in the US last year… even when the sun is partially covered it can still damage your eyesight.

      You can get special filters for telescopes that allow you to safely look at the sun and you can see sunspots which I thought was pretty cool!

    As the world progresses, in about a billion years the Earth will no longer be habitable for human life as the Sun will be much brighter and give off lots of heat for the Earth to absorb. To even survive the Earth you would need a highly advanced space suit as oxygen will not exist there. If you look at the Sun now for a while, you will still go blind. But if you stare at it in a billion years, you will only be able to look at it for about a minute. Best not look at the Sun for a while.
