      Hi,
Svalbard is governed by Norway so generally, the working language is Norwegian. But, the University where I work has people from all over the world so we use English as the working language. Norwegians also start learning english from when they are 6 years old so almost everyone here is fluent in English. They also show quite a lot of English tv programs on Norwegian tv (with Norwegian subtitles).
Hope that answers your question. 🙂
