Even though I’ve been to the Arctic I was in Moscow for a meeting last week and that was definitely the coldest it was about -20 you couldn’t walk outside for more than a few minutes without it feeling like your face was freezing. In comparison I got sunburn last time I was in the Arctic!

Even though I life in the arctic the coldest place I have been was in Northern Canda. I had to walk to work in -37.5 degrees. I learnt the hardway that when your eye lashes freeze together don’t try to rip them apart with your fingers. You should use the heat of your fingers to melt the ice first!

If we include wind chill (the extra factor that we feel when it is windy – the windier it is,the colder it feels) then the coldest I have been is -60 degrees. The air temperature was -25 degrees but I remember it was very windy and I was trying to get back down from the radar site to town…that was cold!!
