      Hi,
I think Space X is doing some incredible things. I watched the last ‘rocket man’ launch live on youtube and it was just amazing to watch. Not only the launch but the fact that the two booster rockets managed to land back on the ground simultaneously. Launching the car was very good PR work but it would’ve been nice if he could’ve maybe launched something scientific as well. It’s often a problem for scientists to find the money to get something launched into space (like a satelite with lots of instruments on to image the Earth or measure the particles around the Earth) and we could have put so much cool stuff into orbit (lots of little cubesats- you can google that). I think that company is showing that there is a low cost way to get into space and also encouraging healthy competition and innovation in the field of space craft design.

I agree with Lisa, being able to watch Space X videos is exciting and helps people who don’t do any science get interested and support it. One problem I have with it is how political it has become/is becoming. I think it is important that scientists are not influenced by politicians or economics, because some ‘scientists’ might lie and produce bad science for their own goals, that holds everybody else back. That said, it is exciting to see how companies like Space X are driving the space industry, which should hopefully benefit all countries.

I think the amount they are getting people interested in science is great, although it does seem quite wasteful putting a car into space both of resources and money!
